It’s a three-peat state championship for CDS varsity girls basketball

It’s official – lady Wildcats secure a state championship three-peat during the February 22 NCISAA 2-A championship game! Final score: Carolina Day 63, Asheville Christian 37, with seniors Haley Laughter and Allison Beasley scoring a combined 37 points. Laughter (who has committed to play at Florida Gulf Coast) and Beasley (who has committed to play at Furman) were named to the NCISAA 2-A all-state team during the postgame awards ceremony.
Laughter had already scored 20 points by halftime, and she is now a four-time NCISAA 2-A all-state selection and one of only 11 WNC girls basketball players to score more than 2,000 career points.
The Wildcats are WNC’s first three-state champion in girls basketball history since 2005. You can read the play-by-play of the game here, and here is the Asheville Citizen-Times’ recap.
Congrats, Wildcats! The ladies have had an impressive 115-7 record in the past four years.
