CDS Varsity boys swim team wins state for the second time

It’s a repeat – the CDS varsity boys swim team took first place at the state championship on February 19, after setting nine school records at last year’s NCISAA 1-A/2-A meet! Click here to read the Asheville Citizen-Times article about the meet.

Below is a recap of the CDS highlights:

  • 24 of 25 swimmers had at least one personal best time
  • 19 of 25 swimmers had personal best times in ALL of their swims
  • 45 individual swims led to 39 best times (87%)
  • 23 of 25 swimmers moved up (or maintained) their seed in at least one event
  • 19 of 25 swimmers moved up (or maintained) their seed in ALL their events
  • In 51 swims (individual/relay) swimmers moved up (or maintained) their seeds 43 times (84%)
  • Seven CDS team records were broken
  • Two firsts place titles, eight second place titles, and three third place titles
  • The Boys successfully defended their State Championship, clinching the title during the last event
  • The Girls finished in 4th, their highest finish ever, climbing from 5th during the last event
  • Combined, the Boys and Girls finished in 1st place, again having to wait until the last event
